Hi-My daughter is 13, has numerous health problems which have caused her to miss numerous days of school over the years and is feeling very pressured right now, by the school, while battling with a serious illness. I want to homeschool Kayla, but she has problems with math and I am new to this whole thing and have no idea where to begin. Kayla is very ill right now and the school is insisting that she come anyway and putting unbelievable pressure on both my daughter and myself here in Michigan. I feel that it would be better all the way around if I could begin homeshooling, at the very least for the rest of this year, but I'm not sure what supplies I'll need, how much they will cost, or what I need to do legally. If anyone can help, it would be so GREATLY appreciated. My blood pressure has gone up just thinking about what this school system has done to my family. I have basically homeschooled my daughter with the public school's books since second grade. I have no doubt that I can do this, I just don't know how to set up a plan and get it into action. Can someone, PLEASE, help!?! I plan on keeping my daughter home from school today and telling the school that we will no longer be needing their services as I am going to homeschool Kayla because I feel that is what she needs to be the best she can right now. I plan on going to the school around 10am, so if anyone out there could respond before then, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, I would still appreciate any responses.
Thanks,
Kathy Gillette
