Hello old friends and newcomers!

It's Brenda C. from South Carolina. I tried to post this in December, but something triggered the block, and I never got a response to my query as to what the problem might have been. I'm sure I haven't broken any posting rules. So let's see if this works!

My dh left in 1999. I had homeschooled my kids through K5 and 1st grade at the time. I've since put in 8 more years, and this is our 11th year of homeschooling. For my daughter, anyway. I put my stubborn son in school so he can see how tough the "real world" is. Yes! A single parent can do it by the grace of God!

Anyway, I've been incredibly stressed and busy. I'll just skip to the good stuff ---

I bought my very own house!

Can you believe it? My house with my ex was foreclosed out from under me 6 years ago when he stopped making the mortgage payments. He had ruined our credit. I thought I'd be renting for the rest of my life.

But ya know, last summer brought a lot of troubles, and I decided to try for a loan, and out of 3 possibilities, I was offered two loans! So I took the best offer, and I found a house that I love, and here I am! The kids and I moved two months ago, so we're still unpacking and looking for missing items.

My old van bit the dust after Thanksgiving, and for the first time ever, I bought a new-to-me minivan! It's bright red; I call it my Santa van. My last three vehicles were donated from members of my church. It's such a blessing to be able to buy a car on my own, and it's the nicest one we've ever had.

Missang, I got your Christmas card, thank you! I threw away the envelope with its return address before discovering that your address wasn't on my label list in my computer. Yikes!

Joyce, are you still out there?

I still make a living as a writer. My kids are teenagers (ages 15 & 16), and life is full of drama. The ex also creates drama, though not by actually being involved in the kids' lives. SIGH. (I could write a book that would make your hair burst into flames....)

Anyway, I'm surviving each day, and I'm living proof that you can be a single parent homeschooler if that is what God has called you to do!
