I would recommend her learning Russian with Rosetta Stone. Car is one of the early words taught and little ones always have toy cars that she can use the word when she plays with him.

If she learns Russian and uses it with him as she is learning it then that would be a great help.

Another suggestion is to find out from either mission boards who send missionaries to Russia and surrounding countries or agencies which bring the Chernobyl kids here for part of the summer if they know of any Russian learning toys. A great resource may be the foreign language department of a college/university with a Russian major or masters program.

I think to expect to find a Russian counterpart to the Learning Company or Leap Frog products is probably 20 years away.

I haven't adopted yet, but we are in the process. I'm very much interested in Russia and visited there after high school soon after peristroika(it wasn't thaat open). We won't be adopting from Russia, but would like to have Chernobyl kids come stay with us after we get moved.

I hope some of these suggestions are helpful or at least spur your thinking to something you can use.

Enjoy the new little guy!

Rachelle
