I don't see why not. Personally, though, I don't think you need it. I saw a personal trainer on TV that said working out at a certain heart rate is hooey because your body gets more efficient at fat burning by your ability to push your cardio endurance level.
Your best bet to burn fat is to add muscle and some cardio that is challenging and that which you can build up levels.
