We are fortunate to have a VegSource friend, Heather (Razz), who lives in Anchorage and she was kind enough to send us this information:

"The Natural Pantry has two stores with lots of organic foods. The biggest and most well stocked would be the one at the University Mall in mid-town between New and Old Seward Hiways, South of 36th Avenue. They also have a deli at that location. The prices of this kind of store are, of course, higher than the regular grocery stores, but I find it worth the price.
Also, the Safeways and Carrs grocery stores (Carrs recently bought out by Safeway) have pretty big healthfood sections in them, as does Fred Meyers. Those grocery stores are many, throughout the Anchorage bowl.
As for restaurants, there is the Enzyme Express, 2604 Fairbanks St.
(907)727-5433 (Vegan buffet, fresh juices and smoothies, as well as health products);
The Marx Brothers, 627 W. 3rd Ave. (907)278-2133 (Regional cuisine; some vegetarian options and willing to prepare special meals for vegetarians; closed Sun.); and another very fine restaurant here in town is the Organic Oasis. They have an excellent chef and include evening music entertainment. "
