Subject: vegan travel in australia and NZ? (is Travel Lady still around?)

I will be visiting Australia (and possibly NZ) for a month or so early next year. Vegsource used to offer tips from someone called, "Travel Lady"--is this service still available? I'm looking for things to do and places to stay, as well as the usual restaurant info. I don't want the trip to revolve around food, and will be satisfied as long as I can find something to eat most of the time.
Everything I've read about NZ so far suggests I watch sheep shearing or engage in pig hunting. I wonder what other things there are to do there, and if there are vegan-friendly places to stay. I haven't researched Australia much at all, but I'm told it's easier there.
