I have been a lurker for some time, and I just wanted to jump in and tell everyone what my McDougalling experience has been so far. I have been gaining weight steadily for the last 15 years or so, and none of the (many) diets I've tried helped me lose weight permanently. I now find myself in my late 30's with all the problems associated with obesity: diabetes, high blood pressure, low energy, low self-image, etc.

A while back I heard Dr. McDougall being interviewed on a LA radio station, and it sounded great, but almost too good to be true. I bought the McDougall Program and Maximum Weight Loss books. It took me a few months to decide to take the plunge, but in June I started. At first I "supplemented" my meals with some lean meats, but I wasn't seeing the results I wanted, so I cut out anything that wasn't on the program.

The results so far? I've lost 55 pounds. My blood sugar has dropped 60+ points to normal levels. I'm weaning off the diabetes medications because I've been experiencing low blood sugar episodes. My blood pressure is almost normal. I exercise 4-5 times a week, and I can do things I haven't been able to do in years. My energy level is through the roof. I sleep less. I feel like I can do anything. I feel like I have a part of my life back.

I've got a long way to go, but I know I can lose the excess weight (over 100 pounds) that remains. This message board has been a part of keeping me inspired, so although you didn't know it, you've had a part in my success so far. Thanks!

Sorry for the length of this post. Just wanted to tell my story so far...

Richard
