Okay, well I recently crossed the final line and became a vegan after 10 years of lacto-ovo vegetarianism. I found it hardest to give up eggs, but knew I had to due the horrible living conditions/slaughtering of egg farm hens. Well I researched my city's farmer's market farms and found that there is a small farm that produces eggs HUMANELY and brings them to the market weekly! At this farm, the chickens are not debeaked and are actually free range, with no confinement to cages and plenty of grassy farm area to roam on. They are like pets to the farm and are allowed to live out their entire life rather than being slaughtered after 2 years. On the farm's website, they even had pages of "in memory of.." to the chickens that have passed away from old age! How cool is that? So I am now only eating eggs from this one farm! I highly encourage everybody here who misses eggs to investigate the farms that sell at your local farmers market!
