Hello! I've been researching fasting for awhile now, and have been planning on doing a 7 day fast in about a month or so. I've done short fasts before- lasting 1 day (well about 36 hrs)- and I really actually enjoyed them because of the clarity with which you can see things and how sharp your minds becomes. Anways, I have a few questions regarding fasting since I want to do one for a week. I know only water can be ingested during fasting, but can you drink tea too? Tea after all is just water- it was no calories. I drink lots of green tea and some herbal teas too on top of water. So would it be alright to drink tea as well? Also, I'm a huge fan of fibre. I have Fibresure that is a powder-like substance that is 3 grams of fibre per teaspoon (3 carbs), and 5 calories. Net calories would be -16, so I wouldn't be consuming calories from the Fibresure, I'd be burning 16 cals for every teaspoon. (1 gram fibre = 7 cals burned) Anyways, I really need fibre everyday for bowel movement, so could I just drink water and tea and add some Fibresure into the water? Or would I not enter that protein sparing state at all? Just one more question- You say that one day fasts are not a good idea because fasting of course slows your metabolism so much that it's not worth doing in such a short period of time? I was thinking of first doing a one day fast next week, then a 2 or 3 day fast the next week, and then 2 weeks after that do a 1 week fast. I'd like to do short fasts first to see if I can handle fasting. But is that just not a good idea? Sorry for typing so much, but I would really appreciate more information and your opinion! Thanks!
