| Subject: | Metabolism after dieting |

I gave up breast-feeding three weeks ago and dropped five pounds immediately and felt a significant drop in appetite. I took advantage of this drop and appetite and have done what would honestly be described as crash-dieting. I have never done this before. I lost another 20-25 pounds in about three weeks. I know this is horrible on one’s metabolism, but I feel I’ve kicked the habit of overeating for the first time in my life.
So, now that I’ve screwed up my metabolism, what’s the best way to get it on track? I know general metabolism tricks like 4-6 small meals a day, eating a fiber-rich breakfast, exercising… But I’m looking more from a “recover from damage” post-fasting deal. I’ve fasted for three individual days, fasted for two two-day stretches (yep 1 day shy of the magical 3) eaten just one small meal; and eaten 5 mini-meals (handful of nuts, low-carb protein bar, some raw veggies) I guess I tried to confuse my body. I drank coffee in the morning to start my metabolism up a bit instead of breakfast.
Again, I realize I just gave a list of no-no’s but I used to eat like a lumberjack! I ate mostly healthy foods, but in quantities that most men could not keep up with. It’s worth it… but how do I ease back into eating?
BTW, I’m currently 5’2,” and hovering at 150lbs and about a size 12 (10 dress, 14 American Eagle jeans). I think 130lbs is a good goal. I’m thinking a size 8 for my pear-shaped (big rear & thighs). I’m muscular for a lady and gain muscle easily.
Thanks
