Thanks Jo! I appreciate your response. I did end up purchasing the meat item "because she needed protein" for the reasons you list in the first portion of your response. When we got together she did mention that she realized that it might have made me uncomfortable and I admitted that it did but that I didn't feel it was my place to judge her choices. I'm sure I do things that would make people who are focused on being earth friendly stressed out and I would hope they would show me some compassion rather than being judgemental about it. I DO think she got it and will think twice in the future about it. It's really nice to hear from a vegan about it. I feel very alone in this, so it's nice to know I'm not.
