Jo, as always, I appreciate your support! It means so much. I am the only vegan (indeed, vegetarian) in my current social circle. One of my closer
friends recently said that she stopped inviting me over for meals because it's "so difficult to
figure out what to serve," since I don't eat dairy products. This despite the fact that I always
bring a vegan entree to share. I was quite taken aback by her comment - we have known
each other nearly a decade and I had no idea she felt that way. I told her we could continue
to meet at restaurants we both enjoy, and order what we want, which would alleviate the
pressure of having to conform to another person's dietary choices. I expect this type of comment from my parents (who have never accepted my veganism),
but not an enlightened friend who eats 80 percent vegetarian herself. Argh, I miss my vegan potluck group from days of yore!
