I am so tired of hearing people say they're "recovering vegetarians." For example, our local newspaper reviews a restaurant every Friday. Recently, a new "green" eatery was featured. The reviewer identified herself as a "recovering vegetarian" and went on to gush about various flesh-laden dishes she had sampled that day. In a gratuitous nod to the non-meat-eaters in her audience, she assured us that the daily vegan entree made her "devoutly carnivorous dining companion want to temporarily renounce his ways." I have been a vegetarian for 20 years, and vegan most of that time ... so you think I'd just shake my head and turn the page. But, this bugs me no end! BTW, I live in a trendy "new age" city where most of the self-professed vegetarians eat fish and chicken several times a week. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I feel better.
