Just wanted to offer encouragement to other vegans. I don't know any other vegans except one I met once who runs Everliving Natural Foods on Greenback Ln in Orangevale, CA, a completely vegan health food store. I've been technically obese 3 times. November 2006 I got back in touch with why I had stopped eating animal products before, and abruptly stopped again. I lost the excess 50 pounds (I also run), and though I know more is required to help creatures exploited for products, I feel a bit of strength developing inside because of the way I eat and choose what I consume. This sense counteracts the sense of futility and despair that comes with learning about the plight of exploited creatures and being in a position myself where I can't be much help to them yet. Disciplining myself to avoid foods/products I encounter daily is helping me to discipline myself more generally, too. Discipline will create room in my life for the opportunities to be of more help to better the lives of creatures. At least that's my hope.
