I don't kill them - although, in saying that, I'm fortunate enough to live in a country (the UK) which has no dangerous insects other than disease-spreading flies (kept at bay easily enough by never leaving food uncovered) and is malaria free. On the other hand, I do enjoy camping and go to outdoor events and festivals often, and mosuitos and their friends can be a real pain in the...wherever they choose to bite you. Having noticed that the various types of mozzie repelling candle that are available all seem to be scented with lemon, I experimented with using freshly-squeezed lemon juice on my skin - and it seems to work, not only as a repellent but also to soothe a bite when one of the little vampires does get you. A few people have enquired as to what aftershave I'm wearing, but nobody seems to have found the smell unpleasant as of yet!
