Keith, that's one of the best-worded arguements in favour of feeding a cat meat I have ever read, very well done. My personal view has always been that while humans are evolved to consume an omnivorous diet (albeit one heavily skewed in favour of plant foods with small and occasional amounts of meat) we are at a stage in our evolution where we are able to make a conscious decision to survive on a diet that doesn't contain any meat or animal products whatsoever, whereas cats are not and cannot. Our bodies suggest that, while we can still consume meat, we are gradually changing into an entirely herbivorous animal, as evidenced by our teeth that have more in common with a plant-eating animal than those of our ancestors such as Australopithecus (damn, had to google that spelling!) and also our long, plant-eater's digestive tracts. Anyone with even basic knowledge of biology can see that this is not the case with cats, a species who are pretty much the epitome of a hunting, carnivorous animal.
