I normally take a metric size 43. That's what I got, and it fit just right.

The fit should feel quite tight when you first put them on. Every hike I did, I would think I had them laced up too tight or my toes were pinched, but within 200 metres they would feel just right. So I would think that if they don't feel too tight, they are probably too big. I never once had a blister from them, not even when they were brand new.
