I would never ever go out of my to kill an insect. That said, some insects can be life-threatening and dangerous. If I am going to be in a situation where there are mosquitoes or other potentially dangerous insects, I would first do everything I could to protect myself from them -- using a (natural) repellent, for example, covering all parts of my body as best as possible, and using mosquito netting where feasible, etc. Killing in any situation is a last resort. But, when it comes down to "you or them," your own life is as precious as anyone else's.
