The suggestion to bring something is a great idea for when I return to the U.S.(very soon now)

Unfortunately where I am living now it is culturally inappropriate to bring part of the meal - I am not sure why, perhaps it insults the host's ability to provide a good meal. Vegetarianism is very rare here, too - so rare, in fact, that most people say the word in English!

And, Keith, thanks for the recap of past discussions on the board - I am new to this board so was unaware of what had gone before.
