Subject: Living with Omnis/3yr old confused
Date: January 3, 2007 at 8:46 pm PST
I am vegan and my husband and children are omnis. I don't feel it is my place to force my diet/beliefs on them. I do however try to guide and advise them. I would like to encourage my 3 yr old to be vegan too but my husband is a dedicated fleshy stating all the usual ignorant crap like we were meant to eat meat and I like the taste. He is coming around to the cruelty of factory farming after routinely showing him flyers and dropping snippets into conversations, but he hasn't yet linked the two. Alot of people in Australia think that these things don't happen here. Anyway, I have tried to unbiasly explain to my 3yr why i don't like and don't want to eat meat, but he has encouraged her to eat meat (???whilst complaining that i shouldn't push my vegan ideas on her???) Now she is just totally confused and says that she is a different kind of vegetarian who only eats chicken nuggets. I told her that she can eat what she like and is good for her because she doesn't understand. It is very hard at dinner times when sometimes i still have to cook meat. Most nights I cook vegan meals but when the complaints get too much or grandad turns up with meat then I have to give in. Any advice Anyone? Any good recipes for tofu nuggets?
