Subject: How do you handle being a dinner guest of omnis?
Date: January 2, 2007 at 8:03 am PST
I have a tough time when I am a guest of omnis - in the past this has been a barrier to me maintaining a vegan diet. I want to be a considerate guest, and not be demanding, or appear judgmental - and I don't know how to pull this off - it is tough to tell people what they can and cannot serve. As a dinner guest, a vegetarian diet has been okay, tho a little awkward at times, as a week or so ago when my well intentioned hosts had meat in nearly every dish they served. To complicate matters, we travel a lot, and many of my hosts are not American and we have both language and cultural differences. Many of our friends cannot think of anything to serve, and it seems quite a burden for them. Any ideas?
