I've seen other posts on this and I agree with most of the consensus -- that if they are not abused, are happy, etc., there is nothing wrong with eating the eggs. However, I don't know how long you've been vegan, but I quit eating eggs six years ago and can honestly say that I don't think I could eat an egg, it simply doesn't appeal to me. Several years ago i was in a situation where I had to eat scrambled eggs or nothing, (don't ask, just believe me when I say there was no choice) and I did try to eat them but in spite of being very hungry could only stomach a few bites. It's interesting how changing your food really changes the things you desire and find palatable.

But in answer to your question, most people agree that as long as the chickens aren't abused or whatever, it's ok. Aren't chickens cute? I remember once someone we knew had chickens and whenever we drive up to their house the hens would all come running at once to see who was there. It was so cute.
