Subject: Pet Chickens and the Egg Dilemma

Here's the problem.

I am a vegan and somehow we (me and my six year old son) have ended up
with two pet chickens. They run around the yard all day having fun and
sleep in the coop at night to be safe from predators. They are hens
and will start laying eggs soon. We don't eat eggs because of the
inhumane conditions that battery hens suffer but our chickens are
happy and free. Is is wrong to eat their eggs? They will lay them
either way. What should we do with them if we don't eat them?
