I actually have a friend who brought that up, though somewhat politely. I had told her about a rabbit I was sponsoring at a Farm Sanctuary, and she told me that for $10 more I could sponsor a child in Africa. The way she said it I wasn't exactly sure if it was a criticism or not. I did look into sponsoring a child like she said, but then I lost my job. But that's a separte issue!
The point is, no matter what you do, someone is always going to say something else is more worthwhile. You do what is in your heart, and don't worry about labels or anyone who doesn't like it.
