First of all I'm saddened that some people think I'm a crazy militant weirdo because I wouldn't ride in car with seats that have shaved skin on them. I don't use a car in the first place, but being in Europe in an urban situation, this is considerably easier to do than in North America given the available public transport. But sometimes, using a car is not avoidable. For example for transporting factory-rescued animals to their new homes. However, I would decline to ride in car which contains the skins of animals, just as I would decline to ride in car which contains the skins of humans. Would you ride in a car whose seats are covered by skins of humans? If yes, then that would classify you as a psychopath. (According to the DSM) If not, then what makes animals of such lesser value than humans for it to suddenly making it acceptable to sit on their skin? For the individual who had to die for its skin to be made into a car seat, it doesn't matter what species it belonged to. Death it death. What remains for us to do, is to think about our values and question why we would find it more acceptable to sit on the skin of an animal than on the skin of a human, regardless of any label. Any stress arising from this question for you is certainly much less than the stress arising for the one who ended up as the car seat.
