I have heard of gatherers in Iceland who go around collecting down from birds' nests, which wouldn't kill the birds. However, the birds then have to replace the stolen down by plucking more from their own bodies, which would negatively affect their health. Definitely unvegan. And you KNOW that the vast majority of down isn't harvested by gatherers in Iceland. Commercial down is a byproduct of the poultry industry. So it would not even be vegetarian. Keith
