'tis the season, ain't it?
I know, I know. I've been vegan for 8 years, now (and working towards
it for 12). You'd think I'd have found peace with unvegan gifts,
right? I guess not. This one really bothers me.
It came from my employer. It's safe to assume that everyone else got
the same sausage and cheese nightmare that adorns my desk, so it's not
personal or anything. Heck, the gift is so impersonal, it's hard to
even be offended.
But I AM offended, because now I'm stuck with something that is NICE
enough to re-gift (perhaps I could get SOME benefit, right?) but
loathesome enough that I don't know if I WANT to give it to anyone. I
certainly wouldn't want to give this offensive thing to anyone else,
although I know I'm the only person offended by it. If I DID give it
to someone who would be grateful for it I wouldn't exactly be giving it
with the good intentions most gifts are supposed to contain and any
gratitude I received for it probably wouldn't make me happy (ew. You
EAT that stuff?).
I know, I'm just venting. I know I should just give the darn thing to
someone who would appreciate it. I'm just a little irked that EVERY
year recently the gifts have been unvegan. Once upon a time we got
gift cards. *sigh*. Those were the days!
