Subject: excessive weight loss

Aloha All:

I am having a problem with excessive weight loss as a vegan. Is this
normal and part of the body readjusting to a healthier diet or should
I be concerned?

I started eating a meat, fish, egg free diet a couple of years ago, At
that time I was 6'0" and 175 pounds. My weight dropped suddenly to 160
pounds over about a month but then moved to 167 pounds over a couple
of months. Recently I gave up all dairy and my weight has dropped to
149 pounds. Before giving up dairy I only ate cheese on a slice of
pizza but I started to feel that I had an allergic reaction to wheat
so I gave up gluten and cheese at the same time. (I also seem to have
an allergic reaction to soy!!)

So my diet is made up mostly of brown rice and beans
or brown rice and vegetables. This isn't all bad since I happen to
like rice, beans and vegetables, but Since giving up diary and wheat
my weight went from 167 to 161 then to 153 and now 149.

Any suggestions are welcome.
