Not only could you infect your parents or patients, but they could infect you. Since you work and live near high-risk people that makes you higher risk too, and it is definitely safe to protect yourself. An ethical lifestyle includes taking care of yourself as well as the animals around us. You could also find out about getting some Tamiflu to keep on hand, since the shot may not work against bird flu. It does contain gelatin, but again, it seems like you're in a category that may need to take extra precautions.
