It does run the risk of turning some off of the idea of vegetarianism or veganism completely.

But I hope that it will, like it did with me, plant a seed that grows anyway.

I really hate some of what PeTA does. As a devout Byzantine Catholic I resent their use of the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As a mother I am disgusted by their targeting of children.

But they also do a lot of good things.

I also believe that PeTA does a lot of market research. If what they were doing wasn't working at all they surely would have switched tactics by now. If what they were doing wasn't working at all surely they wouldn't still be getting donations. I'm betting that while they do completely turn off a segment of our society they also really get through to a lot of others.

They, like all of us, have to just do what they feel is right.

I admire their commitment if not always their tactics.
