Subject: what would be appropriate?

I have decided that i want to try the vegan lifestyle. I understand that many things such as wines can be not vegan becuase of the process they are fermented. I have done alot of research on what it takes to be vegan and i dont think that at this point in my life i would be able to do everylast thing, ie check which wines are, check all food lables for hidden products that are not vegan. I dont want to tell people i am vegan, if i am not doing all that suff that is really nessacary, i mean i would be giving veganinism a bad name. I was just wondering what would be appropirate to say to people wpphen they ask me about my diet, without giveing veganinism a bad name, but still stating what i support. It seems kinda simple, just tell them what i told you, but i was asked tonight, and i tried that, but it just made me look bad...... thanks for any help peace
