There are a couple ways. Depending on how bashful you cat is, one way is to literally hold the test strip in the cat's urine stream, or catch the urine in a cup as he/she goes. Another way is to get little plastic pellets (the vet sells these). Start with an empty, clean litter box, then put the little pellets in there. It's a very small amount pellets, but it gives the cat something to kick around and it doesn't absorb or contaminate the urine. If you have multiple cats, you'll have to confine the cat you need the sample from with the box. Then it's the waiting game for the cat to go....
