I think you're taking the right approach. Slow changes are usually permanent and much more lasting IMO. And it does take 4-6 weeks to make a change a habit. I should know! I made A LOT of changes this past year (like 20 resolutions worth!). Plus, I think our bodies adapt slowly to change and its a little easier this way. This was definitely the year of change for me. Next year is the year of growth for me I'm hoping. But I'm making 2 new habits myself for 2006, regular exercise and regular meditation!! My goal this year is to be more centered, peaceful. I believe the other things will fall into place with this as the emphasis.

But there are raw, unprocessed healthy sweets that are incredible! I'll be (over) indulging in some tomorrow! You don't have to give up sweet to be heatlhy, just change the sources you get your sugar from. I suggest fruits, dates, agave syrup, and yucan syrup.

But one more idea you can try that I do when I'm juicing and many people do to get their greens in is hide it in a smoothie. I'd rather just down it and enjoy a really great smoothie afterwards, but everyone is different. When I make green drinks or soups, I blend in an apple with the green (kale for instance), add a fat source like olive, hemp or flax oil or a tbls or two of nuts or seeds like pistachios or hempseed for instance. A squeeze of half a lemon, water, an inch of ginger, seasoning if you want and even a dallop of agave syrup if you want. Or make a smoothie with fruits (say banana and pineapple) then add a tsp of VMG. Now I've never done it with VMG, but some do. Or juice an apple, celery, carrots and add VMG and some lemon. Like I said, I'd rather just down it alone and get it over with. Then eat something good afterwards.

Just remember that its all about progress, not perfection. Don't be too hard on yourself. I've been into a chocoholic mode lately myself. OK, its raw, but nonetheless, I think I've been medicating my feelings rather than dealing with them. So none of us are perfect. But I still get my greens in daily.

Let me know if any of my suggestions work! I'm advertising starting tomorrow to be a raw food chef and counselor, so its helpful to know what helps others and what doesn't. I'm off to make some more food for the raw vegan party tomorrow, falafel and mock tuna! Its been a LOOOOONG time since I've had falafel, YUMMY!! Then I'll probably have some (all raw vegan) Chocolate Fantasy Pie, Black forest cake, Coconut Creme Pie, Pistacio Ice Cream, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, cookies, Blue Chips and guacamole, Egg nog, coconut smoothies, etc etc.........oh yeah, tummy ache!! Then comes next Thurs, juice fast for a week....ugh!
