Subject: sources of good cholesterol

My stinkin' cholesterol was too high. The bad was too high and the good was too low, so I'm back to a health-oriented vegan diet. I had backslid into vegetarianism with plenty of junk food, including soda pop. No more. It's low-fat vegan with no junk food.

My doctor has recommended fish oil as a source of good cholesterol / Omega 3s. Obviously, that's not vegan. Does it even help you get good cholesterol? I've heard people say that it does and others say that it doesn't.

I would have to be pretty desperate to turn to something completely non-vegan like that. Are there really good quality sources of good cholesterol that are vegan? Are avocados a source? What about flax seed oil?

I believe my diet as is plus my exercise program will lower my cholesterol, but I want to make sure to get a good source of the good cholesterol, preferably something vegan.
