Just to set your mind at ease, I have been vegan for 13 years, I do use a fair amount of nutritional yeast, and supplement whenever it occurs to me, which is maybe once every couple of weeks, I know, I know, it should be more often, but . . . I have had several blood tests since becoming vegan, one was just last August, and B-12 has never been an issue. I've always been fine. Iron, however, has been an issue, it's fairly low so I'm taking spirulina with vitamin C to try to get that up, Vitamin D is also an issue here in the north. I was told to take 5000 IU's a day of D3, I found a vegan one online made from mushrooms. You can also purchase a lamp which is something I plan to do, but it costs $400, it gives Vitamin D naturally through the skin. Very cool. Every other nutrient is within healthy parameters. And I didn't read the article, but when supplementing B-12, be sure you get the less readily available methylcobalamin, not cyanocobalamin, the methyl is far more absorbable.
