Hi Starr!
I have a suggestion for you, something that helped me when I was in your shoes. If at all
possible, visit a farm sanctuary! This is an experience that will not only motivate you, it will
give you a deeper sense of commitment that won't compare with reading the books. Once
you've held a rooster or petted a turkey or cuddled a cow, your life will not be the same! And I
totally understand about comfort foods, or not feeling adventurous as a foodie. Over time,
you'll find vegan foods that will replace your old comfort foods, and you may even enjoy them
more! I.e., I used to loooove grilled cheese and was depressed about it until I tried Jo's grilled
cheese recipes. I actually love hers even more!!! As far as feeling adventurous on the road,
this is your chance to be an adventuresome activitist. Don't be afraid to ask chefs to come up
with something for you (some places you may need to call ahead) and explain why. The more
demand there is for vegan food, the more restaurants will go ahead and meet that demand.
Also, check out restaurant listing ahead of never know if there will be a veg
restaurant on the way. HappyCow is a great place for this, as are veg forums and blogs. Best
of luck to you!!!!
