This is the first time in my life I ever cared for a hamster and I like to feed her fresh fruit. I am having a problem with fruit flies and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions besides stop feeding my hamster fruit. I read online about taking a bowl and putting something sweet in it and covering it tight with plastic wrap and then punching holes in it with toothpicks. I tried this with some cantaloupe seeds and flesh and it works great (I always catch more than I expect!) but this never seems to get *all* the fruit flies. I have a plastic covered kitchen garbage pail but they get still get in the garbage, so there are some in the garbage and some by my hamster's cage (my kitchen and living area are one large space and my hamster's cage only feet away from the kitchen). Any suggestions?
