Most beets today are genetically modified allegedly via Monsanto. This is an extremely important issue as genetically modified foods are known to cause tumors in all subject animals 'used' to make them. Inhuman animal treatment goes into each genetically modified food product allegedly distributed by Monsanto. Not to mention effects in humans yet to be seen in the passive US consumers who are nothing more than testing animals themselves. Sugar cane is still your best source of sugar if it is raw and better yet organic. Thank you.
