The very first winter after I became vegan I noticed that my hands would start to get so dry the skin around the knuckles would crack and bleed. While I always noticed that certain kinds of fat from foods would help alleviate this problem, I've never seen as good results as once I started taking the dha/epa supplement from VPure. It's possible that enough flax seed and other kinds of omega 3 rich food might be just as good (I don't know and truth be told I doubt researchers in this area whether they have their pet theories or not could tell you for sure either), but it's much easier to consistently get enough with a supplement. As it is, even with the pills I'm not always consistent enough to avoid the problem entirely (it's not that I forget to take them, I just don't always maintain a constant supply), but a good combination of foods with healthy fats and dha/ epa supplement seems to work best for me. Maybe other people have found better ways. As for me, I'm convinced that taking the supplements is at least better than my diet without the supplements.
