Another story about veg contamination, this time celery and listeria. I have to admit I'm a bit lax when cleaning vegetables, what special precautions do you guys take to avoid food poisoning with raw vegetables and fruit? Do you suppose organic might be less prone to contamination? It's hard to buy local all the time but I do it when I can, farmer's markets are good but only a couple of months here in the northwest. I don't buy anything from outside of the country, and I guess vigorous washing is in order. It's just scary, our food production system is such a mess.
