hi mary, i have a suggestion for you. there is a vegan podcast called "vegetarian food for
thought" by colleen patrick goudreau that is really positive yet honest. also try "vegcast" with

i used to be as confused as you are about the apparent differing views in the
vegetarian/vegan community but after educating myself on the root of the problem i now
view the infighting as something that may be necessary in order for the animal rights
movement to evolve a message that is coherent, nonviolent, and consistent. it all revolves
around "abuse" versus "use". the philosophy behind the vegan belief system is that animals
are not ours to use and the animal protection groups believe it is fine to use them as long as
you don't abuse them. then there are people who think it wrong to inflict violence on animals
but just fine to inflict terror on people, another belief that is not consistent with the root
vegan philosophy.
