We adopted a bunny last night that was in need of a new home. We've named him Toby. Now we start the process of getting him up to his bunny potential! His claws are almost an inch long and he's never been fed any vegetables(!). We know the family, so there are limited places I can vent. Ergh, why don't people take animal care seriously? He's sexually mature, not neutered and (of course) marking. Our family vet is going to neuter him this week and get his claws in shape(as best she can) while he's under anesthesia. Lucky for us, she was an exotic vet before she was a dog/cat vet. Toby's claws are so bad that his toes are twisted sideways and don't even regain their shape when you take the weight off of his feet. Anyway, we're happy to have him here. He's acclimating well and exploring his new room(our 11 year old is sharing his room with him). We'll turn the entire underside of my son's loft bed into a hutch, so that he'll have lots of room when he can't be out and about. We'll also be figuring out an outdoor solution for bunny sunbathing. :-) Every time I think I've gotten all the animal friends I think we can handle, I seem to find one that needs us and suddenly resources become available I never knew about. Lucky bunny, we eat lots of fresh veggies!
