I went vegan in my twenties when I was in great shape (although I still am in great shape) and I didn't notice much difference at all as far as how I felt overall. Some of the factors that might affect how you feel are: age, level of fitness, weight, stress level, how good was your pre-vegan diet, how good is your vegan diet (although it sounds pretty good from what you said), genetics, current health, and possibly environmental factors.

The man who helped me take the step from "mostly vegan" to full vegan is a good example of how long it might take to "feel better". He was in the hospital because of a heart attack (he also had cancer and had had a stroke or two), when he literally "saw the light" and became a vegan. Even after several years of good, healthy veganism he said he was still cleansing. He looked and felt better, which happened over time, but he was still noticing a cleansing effect. Prior to his switch to veganism he was a cattle and dairy farmer and consumed plenty of his own products. He was overweight and had many health problems. In other words, he had a long road ahead of him in order to correct his years of poor eating.

He and I represent the extremes of experiences with our conversions to a vegan diet, but most people probably fall somewhere in between. Hopefully a few more converts will chime in so you can hear a variety of experiences.

Welcome to veganism, though!! Keep us posted.
