Thanks for letting me know which recipe you are referring to (and which book it's in). Another option would be a starch, such as kuzu, arrowroot, or cornstarch. If you are really eager to get rolling and have one of these in the house, you could just add about 2 more tablespoons (the recipe calls for 4 already, so just use 6 and omit the oats).
