Dear UJ, Are the oats organic? If they are they might get grain moth larvae in them. It's a lot easier (at least I think so) to buy fresh organic oats and store them in the freezer. Lasts a LONG time that way. I keep lots of grains, nuts and seeds in the freezer, in Ball jars, labelled. Some say that some nutrient loss is a factor, but I enjoy the convenience of having a full inventory. Quick oats cook quickly, but the steel cut oats that are my fav, take quite a while, like 40 minutes on the lowest of low heat, for my taste. I like them well done. Perhaps you'd enjoy them just as much after 20 minutes. Experiment and see for yourself what you prefer.
