Hello all! I was just wondering if I could have your opinions on captive breeding programmes - not for pets, but for conservation. I am going to be working for a UK charity (Wildfowl and wetlands trust) who breed rare and endangered birds with the hope of reintroducing them back into the wild/or, allowing them to live safely on the charity's protected reserves. Is this, in your opinions, a 'vegan' thing to do? I am against pet stores and breeding animals as pets - my dog is a rescue dog. I see captive breeding efforts as a different matter - in my view they are essential for the survival of certain species. Your ponderings are most welcome!!
