I think it depends on the person who is paying and the situation. If it is your money and you are uncomfortable paying for a meat meal, you can tell your daughter and her friends that you will only pay for veg*n meals (depending on whether you would pay for a vegetarian meal or vegan meal only), and that if anyone wants to buy a burger, he/she will have to pay for it themselves. I don't think that's unreasonable. After all, you are offering to treat (which is generous in itself) -- just within certain limitations.
