Hello, Jo. Virtually every time I have seen a product listed as having "synthetic nubuck," it is vegan. In fact, I am seeing this more and more (along with a "vegan" label beside them when they are on websites), which is a good sign that vegan products are taking hold in the marketplace. I would certainly feel safe buying a something marked as "synthetic nubuck," and I feel confident the shoes you got are vegan. ~The Other Jo
