Yes, every bit helps. Fifty gallons will go a long way towards watering the garden, especially if you get showers during the summer to refill it. You will be surprised at how little rain it will take to fill it!

We are so keen on rainwater collection because our climate is definitely showing signs of drying. We get lots of rain in winter, even in a dry year like this one, just when nothing is growing. Them, in summer, when the garden needs the water, the weather dries right up. So, we are aiming to have enough water stored at the beginning of the growing season to see the garden through an entire summer of no rain.
