Hi Nancy, This is what I would do given the same situation. Write the management of the thrift store and set out in clear terms that as a vegan you object to the harm and exploitation of animals, including animal testing. Let them know that you fully support reusing and recycling, but that until the organization severs its ties with labs or other companies that exploit animals, you will not support them in any form. Then search for other organizations nearby, online, talk to friends, acquaintances, etc. You might even try to gather a group of people and organize a reuse/recycle/exchange party for the community. Throw in a vegan potluck and it may be a springboard for activism, awareness, or just plain practical and fun. Good luck.
